  15. I concur. I have the Elite 2864I. It stinks. If you're a bug-collector,
  16. you'll be in heaven. Buy ANYTHING but ZyXEL. Even a cheap ISDN card and a
  17. separate V34 modem of virtually any quality will outperform the Elite
  18. 2864I. And then you'll save some money on top...

  20. The current ZyXEL firmware versions (in Europe version 2.00) for the Elite
  21. 2864I can only be graded as pre-beta - or if you're polite - beta versions
  22. of the (hopefully intended) working version, that probably won't be due in
  23. the near future (some bugs, that were present in the official "end-user"
  24. version at the start of the general sale to end-users still exist here in
  25. the beginning of 1996).

  27. I keep hearing rumours, that ZyXEL will recall/replace all 2864I modems;
  28. even rumours of the imminent demise of ZyXEL is popping up here and
  29. there.... Probalbly it's just rumours, but I would not be at all surprised,
  30. if tomorrow I read, that ZyXEL had went "belly up"....

  32. If ZyXEL could be convinced to invest in finishing the product, it could be
  33. everybodies dream of a "jack of all trades" communications center. As it is
  34. now, the product is based mostly on hot air, held together by a large
  35. (non-official) bug-list - in short: (pre-)beta firmware - in my not so
  36. humble opinion ;-)

  46. Danadata.dk and if I'm lucky (1 out of
  47. of 10 or 20 calls) and get a connection
  48. at all, chances are, that their disks
  49. are full and accept no new entries
